For followers of Islam, I say: Make my command, protect and help the nation Nazarene in this country of ours in their own country. Leave their places of worship in peace, assist and help their chief and their priests in case you need any help, whether in the mountains, desert, sea, or at home. Let alone all their possessions, be they houses or other property, do not destroy their property, the followers of Islam shall not harm or molest one of this nation, because the Nazarenes are my subjects for me tribute and help Muslims. No tribute, but what was agreed, must be collected from them, their religious buildings are left as they are, they are not altered, their priests are allowed to teach and worship in their own way, Nazarenes have any freedom of worship in their churches and homes. None of their churches are demolished or altered in a mosque, with the exception of consent and free will of the Nazarenes. If someone disobeys this command, the wrath of God and His Prophet be upon him.
"The tribute paid the Nazarenes are used to promote the teachings of Islam and must be deposited in the Treasury of Beth Almal. An ordinary man has to pay one dinar (coin), but the merchants and people who own mines of gold and silver and are rich should pay twelve dinars. Foreigners and people who have no homes or other property have not established any fees imposed on them. If a man inherits property he shall pay a sum paid to the Treasury Baitulmal. Christians are not obliged to make war with the enemies of Islam, but if an enemy attacks the Christians, Muslims must not refuse their help, but give them horses and weapons, if needed and protect against the evils of air and keep the peace with them. Christians are not obliged to turn Muslims, until the will of God makes believers.
"Muslims must not force Christian women to accept Islam, but if they want to kiss her, Muslims must be good for them.
"If a Christian woman married to a Muslim and does not embrace Islam, she has freedom of worship in his own church according to his own religious belief, and her husband should not be treated cruelly because of his religion . If someone disobeys this command, he disobeys God and his prophet and is guilty of an offense great.
"If want to build a Nazarene church, their Muslim neighbors must help. This will be done, because the Christians have obeyed us and have come to us and pleaded for peace and mercy.
"If there is among Christians a great man and learned Muslims should honor it and do not be jealous of his greatness.
"If someone is unjust and cruel to the Christians, he shall be guilty of disobeying the Prophet of God.
"Christians should not shelter an enemy of Islam or give him horse, weapons or other assistance. If a Muslim is in need, the Christian is for three days and nights be his host and shelter him from his enemies. Christians must also protect women and children and Muslims not to engage the enemy or expose to view. If the Nazarenes do not meet these conditions, they have waived their right to protection and the agreement is null and void.
"This document should be entrusted to the Christian leader and head of their church for safe keeping."
