market downturn, making only slight changes for the first quarter of the fourth, according to data on the website of NYSE.
For the first quarter, circuit breakers kick in if there is a decline of 1.350 points, or 10 percent, the Dow Jones Industrial Average.
There will be a one hour stop in trading if the drop happens before 2 pm, a 30-minute halt if the decline occurs between 2 pm and 2.30 pm and not stop after 2.30 hours, depending the NYSE.
If the Dow falls 2,700 points or 20 percent, there will be a stop of two hours if it happens before 1 pm, a one-hour halt if the slide occurs between 1 pm and 2 pm; market
stop for the rest of the day if the blade comes after 2 pm
A plunge of 4,000 points or 30 percent - no matter what time it occurs - would result in market being closed for the day. The previous trigger was slightly higher at 4050 points.

If the Dow Jones Industrial Average falls 10%, trading is halted on the NYSE for 60 minutes.
If the Dow Jones Industrial Average falls 20%, trading is halted on the NYSE for two hours.
If the Dow Jones Industrial Average falls 30%, trading is halted on the NYSE for the day.
