What are your investment goals and deadlines?

A good mutual fund for investors is VFINX first time, Vanguard Index 500 fund - it mirrors the S & P 500 at very low cost and because it is an index fund is very tax efficient. One of the best international funds is HAINX, international port, rated 4 stars by Morningstar, a fund for low cost Intl, long time director of incumbents.

Edit to add: I reread your question - the search for national funds, so forget HAINX.
