Is it easy to make money by trading the shares online? Is it easy to make money online through the trading of shares. I just want to be able to start with around £ 350-400. What is the best site to use?
It is extremely difficult. During the bubble years of the Georgia Securities Commission brokers provide them with copies of all traders who live in Georgia. For every 100 traders, 90 lost 100% of their investment and only 1 has been beneficial. Amateurs do not belong in the trade.
Investing in contrast can be profitable for most people. I recommend reading Benjamin Graham "The Intelligent Investor," and a good book on securities analysis, which was written as a college textbook. Since you seem to have the experience, until As you learn to do yourself, I highly recommend going to a full-service broker or bank with a good reputation in your field.

No it is not easy. Keep your money until you learn about trading ... then be very intelligent and does not do it.
I am a trader, I work hard, and I can not teach what I do in a few lines.
If you see it as another form of savings in the medium and long term and to learn the ropes, so there's no reason you can not make money - but with £ 400 It will not be fast unless you have very very lucky on Penny somewhere (and it is more likely that you will lose on shares Penny)
My fave example is $ 10,000 invested in Berkshire Hathaway Warren Buffet funds 40 years ago with retained earnings is now 34 million or more. With a growth rate of some 21.76% to an annual average of over 40 years ...
But basically, what you should do if you want to start investing some sense in the long term is to find a few good books or courses and read many times over the first do more research online, visit chat rooms and so on.
Markets are always up and down, and no matter what they do, even if they are "crashing" there will always be actions that increase (eg general, gold and oil related in fairly good time when retail is low) so no need to rush and feel like you are missing out, there is always another day.
As for sites for trading, I use Selftrade, they have loads of options and services, see here - http://www.selftrade.co.uk/about-us.php? they are of executed simply means that you decide what you want to buy and sell and when - if you need to know things but once you do that means it is cheap and you do not pay for advice.
My results, the portfolio of approximately 35% since early 2007 ... so if I can keep that going I'll be good to go in 40 years ;-)
Good luck and take care
