Located in Mumbai the financial capital, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) is the third largest exchange in the world. During the December 31, 2005, the NSE VSAT terminals, 2799 in total, were covering 320 cities across India.
The NSE has been a forum for the exchange of securities for 14 years now! A thousand members strong, NSE provides dealing of different securities, some of them being equity, corporate debt, certificate of deposit, commercial paper and securities center and state government. National Securities Clearing Corporation, India Index Services & Products, National Securities Depository, and NSE-IT (trading technology) are the shareholders of the NSE. Owner of various financial institutions and insurance, NSE can be divided into three segments:

GENESIS NSE
It all started 16 years back, in November 1992, when the NSE was integrated as a society and pay their taxes. In April 1993, NSE was granted a scholarship under the Securities Contract (Regulation) Act 1956. A year later, in June 1994, NSE commenced operations in the wholesale debt (WDM), and in November of that year the capital market (equities) segment of the NSE commenced operations . Two years later, in 1996, NSE became the first exchange in India to trade derivatives in a particular market index. In this new millennium, NSE began Indian Internet e-commerce system. Today, trafficking in NSE certification exams online and award. Composed of branches across India, India NSE introduced the first clearing firm (National Securities Clearing Corporation Ltd.) and India's first depository (National Securities Depository Ltd). NSE is India's earliest national, anonymous, electronic book to limit (LOB), which deals with the exchange of securities.
