Reggae Gold 2007

Reggae Gold 2007A brief history of two music Ska Tone

Punk was a definite movement music criticism, the much-needed injection of vitality and attitude on the British music scene in the late 1970s. While the music was exciting and visceral, the messages behind punk social empowerment has been too often lost in a morass of nihilism, negativity and anarchy. As The Clash of black influences in their music, they do not go as far as members of the black band. A man has sought to remedy this situation. Inspired by stories of Motown and Stax, Jerry Dammers quietly building a group and a music label that would bring revolutionary reggae, punk and soul into a pop package. It was a deliberate attempt to assert the benefits of multicultural life in urban Britain. This group, originally called the Automatic Coventry, became The Specials. The label would be called 2 Tone.

The Summer of '79

It all started in the summer of 1979. Originally distributed by Rough Trade album covers printed with the band members themselves, the first version, the 2 Tone would Gangsters (as Special AKA), with Coventry local band The Selecter provide instrumental in Part B. The 7 "single was quickly spotted by the Chrysalis label, which signed The Specials and provide funds for the 2 Tone label. The second single to be released on the label would be a little known band from London under the Madness name. Dammers offered the boys a nutty statement on the basis of a demo. Determined to offer an alternative to the restrictive clauses and require record labels, he offered to strip out a provision allowing the label after just one. Madness is an advantage of this clause, and the group should not release more of their 7 "from" The Prince ". The group was later described by Dammers as "a bunch of chancers.

Successful public

Word spread quickly about this new music addiction that had an image and an attitude to go with the sound. In fact, the label image is as important as the music. Planned in minute detail by Dammers Horace Panter and bandmate, graphic iconic black and white were introduced with designers Chrysalis John Sims and David Storey. C. The image of dancing in the brightly colored tie, sunglasses, floppy hat and loafers was known as Walt Jabsco, and is based on a photo of Peter Tosh (The Wailers). In addition to the documents themselves, Walt appears on many badges, posters and pamphlets in the years to come.

In October, three bands appearing on a UK tour, playing some concerts strongest and legendary time. Again, the visual aspects of the concerts have been important. For The Specials, energy non-stop from guitarist and vocalist Neville Staple Lynval Golding would be the opposite of the dry season, the performance of his sardonic singer Terry Hall. At the end of fifth version of the label (Beat version of "Tears of a Clown") reached the Top 10, and in one week on top of popular music program Pops featuring all three bands. Dammers vision "had become a bone fide public success.

Other bands

other groups and artists that is featured on the label, or have been associated with the musical movement he created, including Bad Manners, The Bodysnatchers, Elvis Costello, Rico and The Beat. While the madness and the Beat released one each on the label, 2 Tone was responsible for launching the careers of these bands to the masses, which deals with Stiff and Go-feet respectively.

Fans

Fans were mainly from working class backgrounds, but especially racial backgrounds and gender were irrelevant to the philosophy of music. Fans would often wait for hours, even camping overnight to see their favorite bands on tour.

Like many social movements, the messages of peace and unity have been misinterpreted - and the style diverted.
