Wall Street Close

I know someone who is trying to become a trader on Wall Street and we wonder if the current market always ends around 5pm ... or is this incorrect?

The market closes at 4:00 EST. He has close much earlier on 9-11 .... at 2:00 pm.

In the same time, except holidays or when he was arrested in case of emergency.
